How lie came

Sharing food we coexisted. Then they lost tails and stayed on trees.

Held the trees' touch. And a desire to mark. Fingers chose stones.

Wrote for permanency and visibility. Discovered fire.

They traveled to tell more. Tree pipes carried tunes far.

Minds shared sounds. Turns pieced vibrations, made words.

They saw thoughts. One made another speak.

They lost fur, wore clothes, lost smell, looked different.

Someone misunderstood. Then someone blinked.

Then some slept, and some dreamed.

Maaya, me, and Heli

"So, what remains?" Maaya asked.
"After the end?" I continued.
"A way to speak" we thought.
"And someways not to" said a voice.

We were sitting on a ridge, high and narrow, having vertical slopes like a cliff on both sides.

"We should not fight" I said.
"We have no reasons to" said Maaya.
"Nothing" we thought.

The night sky above had a few shimmering stars.

"Should we have separated?" I asked.
"You drew the line" Maaya said.
"Should we have waited more?" we thought.
"No" said Heli, the voice.

Some were coming. They were not far away, but hardly visible in the starlight.

"Have we changed?" I asked.
"Does it matter?" Maaya asked.
"Something remains" we thought.
"Yes" said Heli.

They came and waved hello. Each of them carried a light of its own.
"An egg of light for each of you" said Heli while offering, she smiled.

A cocoon had me and was lit. There were twinkles, some were spontaneous, and some hid.
"I hear a child's voice" I said.
"Same here" she said, "Mine says he loves me".

"Wow", I said.
"Oh yes", she said.
"Do you want to come in mine?" we thought.

"The child wants something", I said.
"I want", she said.
"Maybe we didn't meet for the wrong reason", we thought.

"She pointed at a light", I said.
"His hand holds something", she said.
"What is it?", we thought.

"She is smiling", I said.
"He is looking away", she said.
"They are happy", we thought.

I was suddenly feeling sad.
She was suddenly feeling angry.
"We know why this is hapenning", we thought.

"An egg of light was for each of you" said Heli.

The cocoon shrank, excluded me, and continued shrinking till it was big enough to hold the baby. Then they waved and said a goodbye and the two cocoons slowly drifted away from us. We watched in silence till they were small enough. Our emotions also started dissipating away slowly.

"I cannot go back to it ignoring everything else", I said.
"Neither can I wait for mine any longer, I think", she said.
"We don't like this", we thought.
"They were happy", said Heli, pointing at the hardly visible speck of light, "And they will be", she whispered.

From them I draw. I taste myself. Am I satisfied? I stay.

Bark

Old dog thought it will teach. It looked. We overlooked. It barked. We got scared.

Drawing

Since its birth Baby is trying to draw something, in water, by moving hands, sometimes legs. Since its birth Friend is trying to add something to water to make it more viscous.

It

Home.
Father, Mother,
And, busy Baby.

Baby doesn't make too much sound.
Home has a fence, which Baby does not know how to cross.

Everyday birds come and sit on the fence, spend time, and fly away.

Father Mother teach Baby. Baby tries to listen to birds. Birds become quiet, and listen to Father Mother.

Baby grows.

Father Mother teach Baby. Baby learns. Birds chirp.

Baby grows.

Father Mother teach Baby. Baby goes towards fence. Birds teach Baby. Baby still does not know how to cross.

Baby grows.

Father Mother teach Baby. Birds mock. Baby discovers a gate.

Baby grows.

Father Mother stop teaching. Birds mock more. Baby thinks.
Shall it learn from Birds and mock Father Mother?
Shall it learn from Father Mother and teach Birds?

Baby grows.

Father Mother wait quietly. Birds mock. Baby crosses fence.

Baby is grown up.

Baby goes to talk to dolphins.

Water.
Father dolphin, Mother dolphin,
And, busy baby dolphin.

Baby sits on coast. Listens, and mocks. Baby has to send baby dolphin away. Only then will Baby learn how to return Home where Birds are now taking care of Father Mother.

Hello - by Adele - Slightly edited

Hello, it's me
I was wondering if we meet we can
Go over everything
They say that time's created since then
Just to sit and read
(Because I am your experience
And you are my)

Hello, you may read me
I'm dreaming about how to become better
When we were younger and free
I was so good

There's still such a difference between us
And now a million miles

Hello from the other side
I must have reached a million miles
Then it's time to read again
But are you not close
(Because we can't act when we read)

Hello from the outside
I am sure we've tried
To tell the tale of our experiences
But it don't matter it clearly won't make us anymore
(Because you are not close)

Hello, how are you?
I am still waiting in a new town
I hope that you have made it out of our old one

It's no secret that the both of us
Are running out of time

Hello from the other side
I must have reached a million miles
Then it's time to read again
But are you not close
(Because we can't act when we read)

Hello from the outside
I am sure we've tried
To tell the tale of our experiences
But it don't matter it clearly won't make us anymore
(Because you are not close)
Ooooohh, anymore
Ooooohh, anymore
Ooooohh, anymore
Anymore

She found a love for her
Darling, just dive right in and follow your lead
Well, she found a love, beautiful and sweet
Oh, I never knew you found what you were waiting for

'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love
Not knowing what it was
I will not give you up this time
But darling, just kiss it slow
Your heart is all it owns
And in your eyes you're holding mine

Baby, I'm dancing
With you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass
Listening to our favorite song
When you said you are a mess
I whispered underneath my breath
And you heard it,
Darling, you are perfect tonight

Well, I built a woman, stronger than anyone I know
She builds her dreams, I hope that someday she'll build others too
She found a love to carry more than just my secrets
To carry love, to carry children of our own

We are all kids and we're so in love
Fighting against all odds
I know we'll be alright this time
Darling, just hold yourself
Be with it, I'll stay your love
I see my future in your eyes

Maaya, me, and the Zero

This post is a sequel to Maaya, me and the Open Fields

“Do you see a circle?” she asked. I searched for it. “Don’t look hard” she said, “See if you get it.”

The cabinet door was dusty and jammed. And I was wondering how I could open it. Was looking for a keyhole. Why did she want me to open it anyway?

“It’s not working!” I said, “We should probably leave it as it is.”

“You will never open it if you don’t see the circle”, she remarked, “And you will never find the circle if you don’t stop trying too hard”.

The basement was dark, except that sometimes we could catch a glimpse of each others' faces. A mellow streak of light streamed in through the ventilators. Spider webs were all around. It felt like trying to open a century old treasure chest.

I eventually stopped and turned towards her. “Why are we here, Maaya?” I asked. She looked at me, “Because I asked you to open that cabinet”, she said. Her voice trembled a little. “What is inside?” I asked. She took a pause. “Nothing!” she said, looking away, “You don’t see the circle”.

I had no idea what she was talking about. But I didn’t want to sadden her. So I turned towards the cabinet once more. Amidst that dust, I thought this time I found something vaguely resembling a loop.

“I found this loop” I remarked.
“You got it?” she asked.
“Yes, but it's not a circle!” I said turning towards her.
“See whether you lost it again!” she said as she moved away.

The loop was gone. Within moments. Vanished.

It was upsetting. Also frustrating because I didn't quite get the motive behind trying to open a jammed cabinet hidden in a dark, damp, dusty basement. I stood there sometime thinking what can I do or say next.

“When you wrote the first part of this story, we touched!” Maaya broke the silence. "When you wrote the second part, we thought! But neither way it has worked." she said, "So this time we will try it my way”.

I turned towards the cabinet once more. The loop became visible once again.

“I found your circle”, I said.
“Ok!” she said, “Now can you go inside? Do you feel me?”

It felt odd at first, but my hand could literally go through the loop and reach inside the cabinet! The door didn't have to be opened!

I first groped in the dark and felt nothing.

“Do you feel me?” she asked again.
“I feel nothing!” I said, “There is nothing inside.”
“That’s me!” she said, “I feel you though!”

Surprising! Also terrifying, because her face told me that she was telling the truth. Although my hand felt nothing, I was indeed holding a part of her hidden deep inside. I wasn’t sure how it happened but all I wanted was not to hurt her. I felt a responsibility. I slowly drew my hand out and said “I didn’t feel anything!”

“Because you still think it’s not a circle!” she said, taking a deep breath.

“It looked more like an oval! Really.” I said. She was quiet.

I moved aside as she drew closer to the cabinet, “Feel”, she said. And she put her hand through the loop and reached inside and I felt a pang almost immediately in the chest. “Tesseract!” she exclaimed.

I tried to breathe normally, but couldn't. I felt her hand inside, touching my lungs as they inflated and collapsed, holding my heart as the organ kept pumping warm blood through my veins. I was scared. “You held mine worse” she looked at me, her hand still inside the cabinet, “That should make me more upset than you are now”.

I couldn't concentrate. It felt like I was about to fall from the roof of a building and her hand was the only thing my heart was holding on to.

She brought her hand out of the cabinet. The oval disappeared. “Now you know what it feels like” she said, "Do you still think it's not a circle?" She looked at me intently.

I had to tell her the truth. “It's an oval, Maaya” I said.
We shared a long silence. Her eyes were finally moistening up.

“This was our last chance” she said, “I wish one day you will feel my imperfections”.

No Man's Land

These walls are still tainted red.
An eye for an eye has made them red.
And then I see your eyes!
Immersed in the blue of this sky.
They whisper about the fence.
The fence that lies there partitioning a nation.

The breeze runs through it, doesn’t it?
So don’t I see light? As shadows of midnight creep in?
I am afraid!
My dark, lonely room hangs on that barbed wire.

Memories crowd my dreams as I wander into the orphaned land.
My heart kneels to Time.

Dew-drops. Time stops.
And I walk the path I see in your eyes.
All alone.
Through the fence.
Through the dense darkness of human misdeeds.
Into that nameless space blindly lit by your light.
Into that desolate no man’s land.

Go tell them.
That the new map they made now rests among torn dreams and nostalgia.
The poems rot.
And the songs are wasted.

Time blurs everything.
Do I even remember you anymore?
I hang on this barbed wire.
And wonder if Death feels like this no man’s land.

Dreams

You look at your watch. You know it’s time. Time to start walking. Down a hallway. You see a door in front. You want to open it. You know there are many doors in this hallway. Each of them separating you from a world of its own. A world different from its previous one. A world with a newer set of rules. You are here to walk. Just. The doors come to you one by one when the time is right.

You walk towards the first door. You unlatch it.

Dream 1:              2014. Early in the morning, you are getting ready for your office. The morning paper is all messed up lying on the table. Your coffee cup is almost empty. The TV is playing some cartoon in loud volume as your kid is getting ready for school. It’s another day. A nice day. What do you do next? … You have your breakfast. Say bye to your kid. Leave your apartment, get into your car and lock the door. And drive. To your office. Because that’s what you do. Almost everyday. You work. That’s your profession. And that’s how you live your life.

You keep walking. And face the next door. You pause for some time. You breathe in. There is a sense of relief in what you have just seen. And you think which world will you be visiting next and what more or new can it offer! You unlock the second journey.

Dream 2:              3014. It’s a sci-fi world you are living in. Humanity has celebrated its biggest triumph 200 years back. Humans were able to create food directly from sunlight mimicking the process of photosynthesis. 3 people had won a nobel prize and many were saying that this was the greatest discovery ever made in the history of mankind. The discovery has been recently commercialized into a product that common man will be able to buy in the market in another 10 years! A device which is going to make food for you if you keep it under the sun. That simple! You do not need to 'pay' anymore for what you eat!

This is a phase of transition humanity is going through now. Two major changes are slowly creeping into human life for the first time. The definitions of ‘Profession’ and ‘Money’ are changing; you realize, that hundred years later, the future generation may not even know that people on earth once used to ‘work’ to ‘earn a living’! You are perplexed. Because you thought life was all about surviving day-to-day problems and then suddenly, one day, some problems just vanished from your list! But you do not know whether to celebrate or to become hostile. Because you know something new is coming your way and you may not be ready for it. People around you have already started talking about joining a job just to kill time. And some are piling up money fantasizing what all they can do with it, now that they need not spend money over food!

You do not familiarize yourself with this world. You have never seen it, never thought about it. However, now in the hallway, it does appear to you as something which is real. So, what do you do next? ... How do you want to spend your time in this world? Doing what? Why? … You keep thinking. And you walk along. You find the third door.

Dream 3:              4014. The world is run with robots that are always at your service. Your wish is their command. The present generation of humans does not use the concept of 'money' anymore. When they read about it in history books they find it quite difficult to understand. Give and take continues in the society as it always has. However, the exchange happens, now, not between two humans - as no person has anything that another cannot have - but between the humans and the Reserve! The term 'Wealth' is slowly vanishing from the human dictionary!

Though all of it sounds crazy, you actually do understand how this system works. You have seen it before. In a huge library that almost houses every book on the planet. Anyone can have any book they want. Anytime. Just as there can be many copies of a book, similarly, in the present world, there are innumerable numbers of resources in the Reserve. And the resources are unlimited. So now you do not need to 'pay' for anything!

You sense how different this world is! Meanings of words like 'Value' is on the verge of getting permanently changed. And you just cannot get 'Popular' as you are no different than others! Communication between fellow human beings has decreased to a minimum and people are saying, that in years to come, the word 'Society' might also see a refinement in its meaning. Many, in fact, look at the current world as the last and defining step of Human Evolution.

And this is also to tell you that humans are not confined to earth anymore. They are colonizing in outer space. As you have fantasized during watching Star Wars, on TV, thousands of years back!

So, now comes the question. The question which becomes more and more relevant to you and more and more difficult for you to answer as you keep walking down this mysterious hallway. “What do you do next? How do you decide to spend your time in such a world?”

You find a fourth door in the hallway and someone whispers to you that it might be the last one in your journey.

Dream 4:              6014. Human beings have the greatest gift of all now, which make all their earlier discoveries and achievements look tiny. Through the progress of Science, Technology and Medicine humans have achieved immortality. There will be no more deaths now as the secret of rejuvenating the human body has been unlocked. Population has went up so much that humans have started spreading all across the universe!

But that is not your concern. Your concern is to answer that one question that has been bothering you since you started opening new doors in this hallway. Now you know you had been missing something all along; right from when you had started the journey in 2014! So, what really do you want to do with all the time you have? What do you want to do, now that you are immortal? … It becomes even more difficult to answer and the issue of not being able to answer becomes even more significant. You see what lies ahead of you in the hallway. A mirror. Only. You look at yourself. You look hard. Who are you

Dream 5:              You see a different world in the mirror. Where you do not need to get up in the morning and go to work. Where there is nothing that others have and you cannot have. Where you know you are not going to just die someday. Space and Time is for you to take over. But, for the time being, you are just looking at yourself! Because you do not know what to do next. You still have not been able to figure out an answer to that question! You do not know how to spend your time!

In fact, the Designer of the Dreams has decided to add more spice to your life with a last moment twist in the plot. This new world you are seeing now in the mirror has one difference with respect to the previous one! It’s only you who is living there. There is no one else. You are alone.

For the sake of logic, let's say that something had happened, long time back, and that had made you the sole survivor on a certain human colony – a planet, which is not earth. You have no communication with humans on other planets! Neither do you know or have the technology that can fly you out from there! Now, as you see yourself in the mirror, the mirror asks you the same question. “What do you want to do next? How do you plan to spend your time?"

The hallway has ended. With that question. You look at your watch. You know it’s time.
